I arrived in Fredericton on the first of September. Not only was I alone in a new place but my closet looked far too empty to start the fall season.
I can’t be the only one stuck in this situation. For first years and transfer students alike, navigating a new city can prove tough. I grabbed my wallet and hopped on the 116 to scout out some of Fredericton’s most stylish.
If you’re looking for the familiar, try the Regent Mall. Just a short bus ride from campus you’ll find all of your brand name favourites.
Stay tuned for an exciting new addition. Opening later this fall is H&M which will offer quality on-trend fashion for the price conscious shopper.
Though big brands can be great there are times when you want something totally unique. I grabbed the next bus and took a trip downtown. There you’ll find shops and boutiques that are truly one of a kind.
Though peak season has come and gone, I checked out Marx Surf Shop which still offers up fun novelty tees. I walked a few blocks closer to the city centre and found myself in Kings Place Mall.
I shopped the sales at Envy where you can get high quality clothes for cheap. Then I walked my feet past Quality Shoes, seller of – you guessed it – great fashion for your feet.
Just a few blocks down King Street you’ll find the Tannery which is home to most of the city’s bars with reNeu Boutique hidden amongst them. Full of cute and quirky clothes that range from new to vintage. It’s also a great place to recycle your old clothes and get a percentage from the sale.
Across the street I found the truly unique Pretty Little Freak Boutique. The clothing can be described as pin-up with a twist and they just hung up some brand new stock.
At the corner of Queen and Carlton is a real hidden gem, the barracks. This historic location is full of beautiful scarves, bags and jewelry made by local artists. Unfortunately, time is of the essence. The shops are only open from June through September. Make sure to drop by before the season is over.
